Over 25 years kayaking experience on the North Coast.
Blackfish Sea Kayaking runs from the start of May to the end of
September*, the paddling season on the North Coast. We take small
groups of up to 8 paddlers on overnight and multi-day kayak trips
out of Prince Rupert and into the wilderness of the wild West Coast.
Our overnight tour of the archeological and cultural sites of the
Prince Rupert area continues to amaze even ourselves as we learn
more each year about the history of the Coast Tsimshian First Nation
and their 5,000 years of continuous ownership of their Territory.
Blackfish
works with the Metlakatla First Nation and has access to camping
spots, isolated islands and shorelines and even a long house. We
also have permission from the Hereditary Chiefs of the Allied Tsimshian
Tribes to paddle in their Traditional Territory.
Paul and Gina like to explore new locations each season. Our multi-day
trips this year will head up the coast to the humpback whale feeding
grounds. There were lots of humpback whales last year and this section
of coast offers isolated beaches, beachcombing, archeology and wildlife.
We even saw grizzly bears and wolves. We'll get picked up at the
end of the trip and go whale watching some more on the way back
to Rupert. Check out the
Expedition page.
