About Us
Dock and Kayaks Blackfish Sea Kayaking, owned and operated by Paul and Gina is now in its 12th year of business making it the longest running kayak company on the entire North Coast by 8 years.

Paul, our lead guide has over 25 years of real paddling experience, soloing over two-thirds of the B.C. coast including challenging, long distance expeditions such as the entire West Coast of Vancouver Island, a 300 km. trip from Prince Rupert to Bella Bella and many others including the bottom of Haida Gwaii (Ninstints) and into the Haisla Traditional Territory of the Kitlope. Gina has been paddling with Paul as well as on her own kayak trips for the last 15 years.

Blackfish is the only sea kayak company to offer overnight trips and expeditions on the North Coast. Our strengths include Paul and Gina's experience, Blackfish's agreements with both Tsimshian First Nations, small group size, and top quality equipment including paddling with all Seaward fibreglass kayaks. (www.seawardkayaks.com).

Our fleet includes our own kayaks (Gina paddles a Luna and Paul paddles an Ascente), 2 Luna singles for paddlers up to about 160 pounds, 2 Tyee singles for larger paddlers, a very stable Southwind double and a sporty Passat G3 double. Our trips leave from our dock at Cow Bay next to the Atlin Cruise Ship Terminal in Prince Rupert. We supply all of the paddling gear and safety equipment including life jackets and have lots of other gear to borrow. A gear list and itinerary for our trips is available. We'll even make a seafood dinner the first and last nights.
Down for more herring!

Blackfish is proud of our long relationship with the Coast Tsimshian First Nations. We work closely with the Coast Tsimshian First Nations in the Prince Rupert area and have agreements with both the Metlakatla First Nation and the Hereditary Chiefs of the Allied Tsimshian Tribes to paddle in their Traditional Territory.

Our company meets all Canadian Coast Guard regulations. Safety is our most important responsibility.

Blackfish is an authorized dealer for new Seaward Kayaks and equipment (www.seawardkayaks.com). Talk to us first and let us see what we can do. Our low overhead allows us to beat other prices and our experience will match you with the right kayak. We can expedite transportation to the North or offer discounts for kayaks picked up at the factory in Chemainus.
